ooc - character questions, part 1

((part 1 of 100 questions meme for characterization))

Part 1: the Basics

1. What is your full name?
Alastair...I shouldn’t give my last name. Interpol hunting me and all.
(mun's note - it's Krajac)

2. Where and when were you born?
Croatia, May 1st, 1980. Well, back then it was Yugoslavia.

3. Who are/were your parents? Did/do they have occupations?
My father was a repairman until he enlisted. My mother was just a homemaker.

4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
A younger brother, Michael. He was...a typical little brother. Four years younger.

5. Where do you live now, and with whom?
I don’t have a permanent residence. I travel.

6. What is your occupation?
I don’t have one. I’m living off my savings from working for Para-Deus.

7. Write a full physical description of the character. (Third Person)
Alastair is rather tall – 6’1” or so – and lean, lanky, with compact muscles. If not for his taut chest and abs some might call him skinny, but he’s actually quite lithe and not at all feminine. He has dark red hair cut short in a somewhat effeminate style, with bangs, and shapely gray eyes. He is of Eastern European descent, so he is technically Caucasian, but not too pale. He prefers to wear sexy clothing that shows off his chest and arms, a mix of slinky clothes and motorcycle gear with biker gloves and boots and a huge, flowing trenchcoat.

8. To which social class do you belong?
None. I’m nothing, I’m a ghost, a wanderer.

9. Do you have any allergies, diseases, or other physical weaknesses?
I think I’m allergic to wool, but it’s been a long time since I’ve worn it so I don’t know. Maybe it just made me itchy.

10. Are you right- or left-handed?
Right-handed.

11. What does your voice sound like?
Light, reedy, sharp-edged. I’m a tenor, I think.

12. What words and/or phrases do you use very frequently?
All the best swear words in the world. I’ve kind of got a habit of saying “no way!” a lot.

13. What do you have in your pockets?
My wallet, my sunglasses, my deck if it’s not in my duel disk. A rail pass from Prague.

14. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
...no? Besides being loud and smug?

Part 2: Growing Up

15. How would you describe your childhood in general?
Hard. I mean, I wasn’t poor or anything, but getting your home bombed to pieces and your family killed kinda ruins things.

16. What is your earliest memory?
My mother baking cookies. I don’t even remember if it was for Christmas or just...cookies.

17. How much schooling have you had?
I had grammar school up till I was ten, but then Dartz got a hold of me and gave me an accelerated education. It wasn’t all liberal arts and crap, I just learned the important things. Three languages, how to fly a plane, how to use computers and build electronics.

18. Did you enjoy school?
Regular school, I guess. The training wasn’t really school, but that was kind of awesome, even if it was really hard and Dartz drove us mercilessly to learn.

19. Where did you learn most of your skills and other abilities?
Working as Dartz’s henchman. He didn’t directly tutor us in anything except the rituals with the Oricalcos to steal souls and work dark magic, but I got a hell of a lot of hardcore training under him. Piloting, driving, hacking, and so on.

20. While growing up, did you have any role models? If so, describe them.
I don’t think I can really call Dartz a role model. At the time I sort of worshipped him, but it wasn’t because I wanted to be like him or anything. He just persuaded me and brainwashed me into believing in his plan for the world. I followed him, but he wasn’t my role model. I don’t think I had any.

21. While growing up, how did you get along with the other members of your family?
I loved my little brother. But he was still a little brother, so you figure it out. But we were real close. I considered Valon and Raphael to be my adopted brothers, and we got along about the same as any bunch of teenage brothers would get along.

22. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Uh…a pilot, actually. Not in the army or anything, more like a jumbo jet pilot.

23. As a child, what were your favorite activities?
Playing chess and other games with my friends, running around outside pretending to be soldiers.

24. As a child, what kinds of personality traits did you display?
I was kind of loud, and even though I didn’t sass my parents, I was pretty mouthy to my friends. I don’t know. I can’t tell if I was really different or not.

25. As a child, were you popular? Who were your friends, and what were they like?
I guess, sort of. I had three really good friends, and my brother, and we all hung out together. Man, I was only eight or nine, we didn’t care about popularity at that age. We just happened to be the kids in the neighborhood who were kind of the same age. One of my friends had a worse mouth on him than I did, but we were all pretty brash when we were together. But we were fast friends. Loyal to the end.

26. When and with whom was your first kiss?
Getting pecked by a girl in kindergarten doesn’t count, does it? I don’t know, the real thing isn’t something I can remember easy, because I was coming to grips with being gay and didn’t have easy access to takers.

27. Are you a virgin? If not, when and with whom did you lose your virginity?
No. It was...some guy, in the back of a club in L.A. I never got his name. I was only sixteen but I got in thanks to my connections, and he didn’t seem to care.

28. If you are a supernatural being (i.e. mage, werewolf, vampire), tell the story of how you became what you are or first learned of your own abilities. If you are just a normal human, describe any influences in your past that led you to do the things you do today.
Dartz. That's all I'm going to say. Serving Dartz. I'm not telling the full story.

Part 3: Past Influences

29. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
Either the loss of my family or the downfall of my master...maybe the first one because I didn’t have any actual part in the second one. I was there, but I didn’t do anything.

30. Who has had the most influence on you?
Dartz. Not that I’m happy about it now.

31. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Hacking into KaibaCorp via Industrial Illusions and transferring half their stock before Kaiba even knew it was happening was pretty sweet. And dueling him to a tie...considering who’s actually beaten him, that’s an accomplishment.

32. What is your greatest regret?
Wasting half my life fawning after Dartz.

33. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
I committed my life to following the ravings of a sorcerer who was going to destroy the world, and used magic to capture and imprison people’s souls so they could be fed to a mystical beast. How’s that?

34. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
If I’d been caught for anything, I would, but no. Never been arrested no matter how much I’ve done.

35. When was the time you were the most frightened?
When my little brother was killed, and I was left all alone. It was only for about a day, before Dartz came in and rescued me out of the camp, but just…I still have nightmares about running through the streets with the tanks behind us, and Michael being killed.

36. What is the most embarrassing thing ever to happen to you?
Valon outed me in front of Dartz by describing me losing my virginity in graphic detail. I thought the master was going to kill me before I could kill Valon. He didn’t, he didn’t care, but I was mortified.

37. If you could change one thing from your past, what would it be, and why?
I would give anything to have Michael alive. Even more than my mother.

38. What is your best memory?
My mother’s face. That’s all I can remember of her.

39. What is your worst memory?
Michael’s death...being shot at, by soldiers, even though were just a couple of kids...

Part 4: Beliefs And Opinions

40. Are you basically optimistic or pessimistic?
Neither.

41. What is your greatest fear?
That the Oricalcos isn’t really destroyed, that some part of it is still inside me and all it would take is pushing the right buttons for it to rise up and recapture my soul.

42. What are your religious views?
I was raised Orthodox Christian but I don’t believe in anything right now. Dartz pretty much persuaded me that no religion is right and no god exists, and even though I know he was evil, I can’t shake the things he taught me. He probably wasn’t wrong about that.

43. What are your political views?
Every system in the world is corrupt. I guess in some ways I’m an anarchist, though I don’t care enough about anything to rise up or do anything about it. I don’t even give a crap about gay rights, being gay myself. The world sucks too much to ever hope that any country will give gays rights to do anything special.

44. What are your views on sex?
More, please. I’m gay, so it’s like candy to me. But I use it to control people – they want me, they can’t have me unless I say so. I flirt more than I actually sleep around.

45. Are you able to kill? Under what circumstances do you find killing to be acceptable or unacceptable?
I don’t think I can. I mean...I did come close to causing someone’s death once, but I couldn’t do it myself. And I was slightly insane at the time. Now, in my completely sober and non-Oricalcos-controlled state of mind, I know I’d never be able to do it. It’s just not necessary.

46. In your opinion, what is the most evil thing any human being could do?
I’ve seen genocide. It’s hard to top the evils I’ve witnessed myself, or even committed if you count the soul-stealing.

47. Do you believe in the existence of soul mates and/or true love?
No. People who believe that are deluding themselves. I’ll be lucky to find someone I can tolerate for any length of time, let alone love.

48. What do you believe makes a successful life?
Not having to struggle to figure out where your next meal is going to come from.

49. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
I don’t lay everything out for strangers, no. My friends, when I had them…if it mattered, I would be open with them. Valon used to say I was one of those kinds who wore his heart on his sleeve, and I guess I don’t really hide what I’m feeling, but I don’t get all mushy and talk about it.

50. Do you have any biases or prejudices?
Against race or nationality or regular stuff like that, no.

51. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?
Sell myself. I’m too good for that. I was going to be one of the pioneers of a new world order, people ought to bow at my feet and beg for me to be with them. What can I say? My sense of self-worth is obnoxiously high, and prostitution is so beneath me it’s not even funny.

52. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
Right now...nobody. Nothing. I have no cause, no friends, no nothing.
